Title: SISIP denial
Post by: Achenar on December 30, 2013, 08:49:14 AM
I don't know if this is the right place to post, but here goes anyway.

I was force retired in April, 2013 (released 5C) due to not having a unit in the reserves and my position being cut. I was waiting for DMCA to finalize my medical so I could transfer to a unit. Early Oct I received a letter saying that they are changing my release status from 5C to 5C disabled. I then applied to SISIP who told me that I was being denied benefits due to the fact that I did not apply within 120 days of my release. I then contacted the DND Obudsman who told me that there was nothing that could be done. I paid into SISIP for 29 years and for them to tell me this, its not right. If anybody knows how to appeal , please contact me.

It is my understanding, having served 27 years. Medically released 3B. That it doesn't matter when you apply to SISIP as long as it is shown to be career related.
I know VAC is that way.
