Good Day,

The purpose of this post is to introduce you to a Military Occupational Structure Identification (MOSID) to National Occupational Classification (NOC) Equivalency Tool, (MNET), a new tool designed to translate CAF military occupations into equivalent civilian occupations.

MNET was developed through an interdepartmental collaboration between the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Employment Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) to build a Government of Canada online tool that will provide universal access to members in transition and veterans seeking employment, as well as employers seeking military talent. It is designed to leverage existing Government of Canada data and link CAF military occupations to ESDC’s current suite of labour market information and employer job postings. Essentially, MNET will translate Military Occupational Structure Identification (MOSID) to National Occupational Classification (NOC) equivalent, while providing easy access to current civilian job postings within ESDC's jobbank.ca site.

MNET builds on previous achievements resulting from this interdepartmental collaboration such as the recent launch of ESDC's jobbank.ca ‘Employment for Veterans’ webpage: https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/report_note.do?cid=11990 which assists both veteran job seekers and employers seeking to recruit veterans. MNET is hosted and maintained on a CAF server, which contains data on CAF military occupations.

Effective immediately until 12 September, MNET is live for BETA testing utilizing a ‘soft’ launch approach.  An official interdepartmental joint launch involving the CAF, ESDC and VAC will take place at a later date. CAF (DCSM and Mil Pers Gen) will monitor and manage any issues during the ‘soft’ launch. Please be advised that after 12 Sept this site will be off line and put on standby to await approval of an official launch.  Please note that registration is not required to navigate MNET.

We would like to request your assistance in using or promoting MNET in your respective functions as you see fit. To access MNET, use the following link: http://caface-rfacace.forces.gc.ca/mnet-oesc/web/en/. You can also test the application from a mobile device such as smart phones and tablets. Please free to share this information, as well as report any errors or ‘bugs’ you may encounter, and provide your comments via the MNET at: user@mnet.gc.ca.

We hope that you will be able to appreciate the potential of MNET for your clients and look forward to hearing from you. We thank you in advance for your support in this new initiative.

Cordially,

Bonjour   tous,

Cordialement,
