CVA Situation Report, Post D Day Vigil Assessment.
Serving members, fellow veterans, the families who support us and ladies and gentlemen.

My apologies for the delay, as you know, I am disabled and these trips to Ottawa and operations at this tempo/level have repercussions on my health that dictate my ability to participate or engage for a few days after returning home. I am sure that you understand  .

D- Day Vigils – Vancouver and Ottawa

Vancouver.
First, allow me to express my abject appreciation to Kevin Berry for having the courage to step up and lead the charge in Vancouver. Through his devotion and efforts, an extraordinary event was created and an effective, provincial/national platform established. We were indeed honoured that Major Mark Campbell travelled from Edmonton to Vancouver at his own expense to speak out against the gross injustice of the Lump Sum Award and Brian Archer, spokesperson from the Equitas foundation, who delivered a powerful message to the Canadian Public and, equally important, our government in Ottawa. I was very pleased to note the presence of many staunch Canadian Veterans Advocacy supporters, Heather Garrison, Gary Griggs, Dennis Teeple and many other veterans from across BC who are willing to take proactive measures to stand on guard for the wounded. We are profoundly appreciative to Major Mark Campbell for speaking so eloquently to the issues we are fighting to reform. His words, our words, resonated across the nation and with Mark, Brian and others voices rising, our primary objective, to create an event capable of drawing country wide attention, was a complete success!!! Bravo Zulu, my brothers and sisters defending the western frontier,  on the anniversary of the battle for Juno Beach, you have demonstrated that the extraordinary spirit of a nation, the spirit that carried up through Juno and to victory over Nazi tyranny, remains alive and within us today, 68 years later.

D Day Rally, Ottawa – Strategically, the operation attained success levels we did anticipate. The presence of Patrick Stogran and the leaders of the Opposition parties, Thomas Mulcair and Bob Rae certainly generated the level of interest/awareness the event was designed to create and provided the necessary platform to deliver our message to millions of Canadians at the national level with multiple spokespersons united under principle and intent. I am grateful to Thomas Mulcair and Bob Rae for responding to our invitation to clarify their respective party’s position on the NVC/Lump Sum Award and hope that veterans were reassured by their support and the commitments made to us in our quest to have the abomination the Lump Sum Award repealed and the sacred obligation to our brother and sisters in arms restored. I/we are also extremely grateful to Colonel Patrick Stogran, Canada’s 1st Veterans Ombudsman and inspiration for the Canadians Veterans Advocacy’s very existence, for standing up for veterans with such a powerful speech. There were men and women in watching that were crying, such was the impact and I would encourage everybody who has not seen it to go to the attached link and watch.

Message delivery – Post mission strategic analysis. Compliments of Major Campbell, Colonel Stogran, Mr Mulcair and Mr Rae’s presence, we were able to attract the interest of CBC, CTV, Global and Sun News national television networks. Repeated daytime broadcasts of the vigils were conducted throughout the day on the news-dedicated stations and were included on local affiliates nation-wide during the 6-11 o’clock news periods. I have no doubt that we have delivered our message to millions of people, perhaps as much as half the voting population of the nation.

Radio participation included several CBC radio interviews with the primary spokespersons and interviews by top name am radio talk-radio hosts from coast to coast. Many of these shows shows are syndicated and have an extensive audience that is pro-veterans.  Furthermore, the interviews carried on after the 6th, expanding the breadth of the message delivery into various markets that we might have, otherwise, been unable to engage. The print medium was well represented and Murray Brewster’s Canadian Press article was picked up by dozens of newspapers nations wide including the Globe and Mail.

Remember always, the Canadians Veterans Advocacy primary objective is to raise awareness of the profound unfairness of the New Veterans Charter and attain all Canadians support in encouraging our government to restore the Sacred Obligation that once defined this Nations’s spirit, an obligation denied and abandoned with the implementation of the New Veterans Charter in April, 2006.

Lest we forget… the dead… and the living who have suffered the consequences of war/peace, those who have been subject to a second class of respect, those who need all Canadians help now!

Pro Patria Semper Fidelis.
