 Enhancing Veterans Affairs Canada

Funeral and Burial Program

Economic Action Plan 2013 proposes to simplify the Funeral and Burial Program and more than double its reimbursement rate.

The Government has enormous respect for the men and women who havesacrificed in the service of Canada. One of the commitments theGovernment makes to veterans is to ensure that those who die withoutfinancial means receive the necessary financial support to provide for adignified funeral and burial. The Funeral and Burial Program, which isdelivered by the Last Post Fund Corporation on behalf of Veterans AffairsCanada, provides and maintains grave markers and offers financial assistanceto veterans’ estates where the veteran died as a result of a service-relateddisability or for cases where the veteran had insufficient assets for a dignifiedfuneral and burial.

63 million for 1014-15
2  million for 2015-16

Guess they are expecting a lot of veterans to die off or they pan on increasing the denial rate from two thirds to seven eighths.
