Veterans will commemorate D-Day on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Wednesday, June 6, and
simeltaneously rally in Vancouver to raise awareness about the New Veterans Charter and the inadequate and discrimnitory
Lump Sum Disability Award. |
The Canadian Veterans Advocacy, with Col (ret'd) Pat Stogran as a guest speaker in Ottawa, and Hardy Staub in Vancouver, will take this opportunity to draw attention to the discrepancy between the federal government’s treatment of traditional veterans -- the men and women who served in World War II and Korea -- and our modern veterans -- those who have more recently served on peacekeeping missions, in the first Gulf War, the Balkans, Afghanistan and Libya.

The Canadian Veterans Advocacy will speak out against Budget Cuts to Veterans Affairs Canada at a press
conference being held by the Union of Veterans’ Affairs Employees (UVAE), a component of the Public Service
Alliance of Canada. The Canadian Veterans Advocacy supports the UVAE in their efforts to raise awareness of
the negative impact cuts at Veterans Affairs Canada will have on services to veterans and their families.

| The Canadian Veterans Advocacy encourages those who care about the fair and just treatment of Canadian
veterans to attend the Second Annual Canadian Veterans National Day of Protest. We are calling on all
veterans and patriotic citizens to publicly demonstrate their displeasure with the Canadian Government’s lack of
substantive reform and meaningful improvement to the New Veterans Charter (NVC).
